What HEIC is
HEIF (High Efficiency Image File Format) is the format iPhones use for photos when the camera is set to High Efficiency. Apple says it compresses better than JPEG at the same visual quality. The catch is compatibility: some upload forms and older software do not open it.
Option 1: set your iPhone to shoot JPG
1. Open Settings and tap Camera.
2. Tap Formats, then choose Most Compatible.
From then on, new photos are saved as JPEG. To switch back, choose High Efficiency. This does not convert photos you have already taken.
Option 2: convert the photos you already have
Apple notes that when you share to a device that does not support HEIF, the photo might be sent in a more compatible format such as JPEG, but that is not guaranteed for every upload. The reliable route is to convert the files yourself. Our free Listing Photo Resizer accepts HEIC photos and saves them as JPG, sized for Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, Rightmove/Zoopla or other sites, right in your browser. The new files also leave out the original's location data.

Formats are only one part. Size, shape and number of photos matter too. See our guides:
Frequently asked questions
Does converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?
A well-made JPG at high quality looks the same to the eye on a listing page. The Photo Resizer saves high-quality JPGs and never upscales your photo.
Should I just leave my iPhone on Most Compatible?
If you mostly take photos for listings, it saves a step. JPG files are larger than HEIC, so they use more storage on your phone.
Can I upload HEIC to ProLister?
Yes, upload your phone photos as they are. ProLister enhances them without adding or changing anything in the room.
